Bowtie Engineering was founded in 2015 with one aim: solve the electrical safety puzzle for complex facilities.
It began with arc flash studies and electrical engineering. What became clear quickly was that a study on its own does not make anyone safer. A facility can hold a perfect incident energy analysis and still have an incident, because the team was never trained to read the labels, or because a breaker had not been tested in a decade and did not clear the fault in the time the study assumed.
So the work extended. Training came next, then electrical maintenance and NETA testing, then the acquisition of Amp Safety, then BowVue to hold the data from all of it in one place. Today Bowtie is a full spectrum electrical safety, maintenance and energy firm serving clients nationally, but the founding question has not changed.

Bowtie describes its work as a systems approach. Here is what that means in practice rather than as a phrase.
When we look at a facility we are not testing components in isolation. We want to know what maintenance has been performed and, more usefully, what has not been performed against industry best practice. We look at system loads, phase balancing and harmonics, which stress a system continuously and are routinely overlooked by providers scoped to a single task.
It also means the service lines are connected by design. The arc flash study sets the incident energy. The maintenance program keeps the equipment in the condition the study assumed. The training makes sure the people can act on both.
