CUMMING, Ga., September 3, 2026 — Bowtie Engineering, LLC has added lockout/tagout to the BowVue™ Portal, placing machine-specific energy control procedures on the same platform that already holds its clients’ electrical risk assessments, condition of maintenance ratings, and qualified worker records. The capability is available now to clients nationwide.
Lockout/tagout remains one of OSHA’s most-cited standards, and the citations are rarely about missing locks. They are about documentation: procedures written for equipment replaced years ago, assets with no procedure at all, inspections never certified in writing, and no document control.
Bowtie writes a procedure for every serviceable asset, documenting all six lockout/tagout steps — preparation and notification, shutdown, isolation, lock and tag, stored energy check, and verification of a zero-energy state — for that specific machine. Every asset receives a QR code at the equipment. Scanning it gives the authorized worker electronic access to the current procedure and the ability to electronically document the implementation of lockout/tagout and save the record. Sites that prefer paper can still receive laminated copies at the point of use; sites that go fully electronic never handle paper again.
The written program is built to 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4) and includes group lockout, shift change, and contractor coordination. Bowtie performs the annual inspection required by 1910.147(c)(6) as an independent third party, certifies it in writing, and posts ranked deficiency logs to BowVue™, where status is dashboarded as a percent of compliance.
